2019: Ambode’s Commissioner for Energy Resigns Over rigged guber primary… Set to Join Jimi Agbaje

Lagos state commissioner for energy and minerals resources, Mr. Olawale Oluwo , has resigned his appointment from the cabinet of Governor Akinwumi Ambode, citing irregularities in the recently concluded gubernatorial primary and how a powerful group in the state was using an arm of government to intimidate critical institutions in the state as reasons for his resignation.

He has also resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress.

This is coming months after the acrimonious primary between the incumbent governor ,Akinwumi Ambode and Babajide Sanwoolu, the “anointed “ candidate of the APC national leader, Mr. Bola Tinubu.

Prior to the governorship primary, Tinubu under the auspices of Governors Advisory Council, GAC, has told Governor Ambode not to contest for the second term not on account of poor performance, but his inability to carry the party along in his programmes.

Sanwoolu eventually won the primary.

Oluwo in letter dated December 3, 2018 and addressed to the state chairman of the APC, a copy of which was sighted by Newsnow, said:” the integrity-deficient nature of the primary has significantly diminished the hard earned reputation of our state as a reference point for free and fair democratic practice “.

This may be part of the fallout of the political “tsunami “ that may hit Lagos APC anytime from now as more will follow in the days ahead based on the outcome of the primaries in October where many alleged was manipulated to the detriment of the others.

Below is Oluwo ‘s resignation letter.
