Ladi Thompson:We Need Reprogramming not Restructuring

….Says Neither Buhari Nor Atiku Will Solve Nigeria’s problem

The senior pastor of Living Waters Unlimited Church, Rev. Ladi Thompson, has said what Nigeria needs now is reprogramming and not restructuring as some people are clamouring for.

In an interview recently in Lagos , Rev Thompson maintained that the problem besetting Nigeria has been programmed, adding that unless we reprogramme , we may not get the desired results.

He explained that President Muhammadu Buhari may mean well for Nigeria, but without reprogramming, there is nothing he can do to produce meaningful change.

“ Another four years of futility has just begun. Four years of good intentions but low delivery because of systemic flaws.

“The systemic flaws of Nigerian system cannot produce people of integrity.” He said.

Rev. Thompson further stated  that the founding fathers of Nigeria saw the problems we are faced with now coming because of their foresight.

“ True leadership goes beyond political leadership. What Nigeria needs now is not a change of government or political party, it is a complete change of track.

“ The present Nigeria can’t endure. If it survives, it will be a miracle.” He noted.

Rev Thompson said shortly after the independence in 1960 , the then prime minister, Alhaji Tafawa Belewa  said the country has intractable problems.

The  revered clergy noted that the late sage , Obafemi Awolowo also alluded to the fact that Nigeria was created by Britain and handed over with forces of disintegration, adding that the leadership should as a matter of urgency do three things namely: neutralize the forces, preserve the entity and make people free and prosperous.

Rev Thompson said the founding fathers were speaking to the future, “ but unfortunately, the present leadership was unable to connect with them.”

On the way out, he said we need to put on our thinking cap and be more creative to unlock the hidden potentials.

Citing the example of Dubai, Rev. Thompson said Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who turned the country around was of the opinion that a nation development does not happen overnight or by accident, but through intense efforts by the government, private sector and the people.

According to him, “you can use the examples set by others and improve on it or leverage on your own creativity by coming up with fresh ideas.” He said.

As a panacea, Rev Thompson, said though, the spirit of Nigerian citizen was broken, all is not lost, adding that like founding fathers of America wrote a recovery program when the United States faced with similar circumstances, “ efforts are on to come up with leadership that can come up with consensus which will engender development between four and five years of the legacy project for recovery”, he said.
