Eligibility: Fayemi Floors Oni At The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Governor Kayode Fayemi that he is eligible to contest despite not resigning 30 days to the gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressives Congress.

The court struck out the appeal by the former governor Segun Oni who filed a litigation that Governor Fayemi was not qualified to contest the governorship of Ekiti state in 2018 having not resigned his position as minister of Mines and Solid Minerals.

The apex court said the 180 days mandatory for the post election matters have lapsed and therefore becomes an academic exercise.
