ANRP Criticises President Buhari’s ‘Private Visit’ to UK

..Describe It As Callous, Insensitive , Wicked

ABUJA, 25 April 2019 — Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party, has queried the announced 10-day absence of President Muhammadu Buhari on a so-called private visit to the UK. The Party in a statement issued by its spokesman, Mr Sesugh Akume said, “it on the record that President Buhari is the most travelled and absent head of the Nigerian government ever in history.

“From his assumption of office on May 29, 2015 he has spent a total of 404 days (1 year and 39 days) outside the country. This 10-day trip would take it to 414 days abroad. “

The Party wondered at the meaning of a ‘private visit’? Would the ‘private visit’ include consulting his doctors in the UK? This would be a curious coincidence as only 24 hours prior Chris Ngige, the minister of labour and employment reechoed the Buhari regime’s official position that Nigeria has ‘surplus’ doctors whom we ‘export’.

ANRP also asked who would pay for the expense, being a ‘private visit’? It is callous, insensitive, wicked, immoral, and amoral for Nigerians to pay for a ‘private visit’ by the president anywhere. The proper thing to do would be to pay from his pocket, the Party stated, and called on the National Assembly to ensure same.

ANRP also observed that no letter has been transmitted to the National Assembly on who will be in charge whilst the president is away on his ‘private visit’.
