New Cabinet List:Why Shittu, Dalung, Kachikwu , Lokpobiri May Not Be Re-appointed

As President Muhammadu Buhari is set to compile the list of ministers that will join him in the second term, some of those who worked with him between 2015 and 2019 that may not be reappointed due to public outcry of their performances are as follows:

1 Solomon Dalung: The beret wearing minister’s performance has not been too inspiring. In fact, the $135,000 belonging to IAAF that he has refused to return since last year has put Nigeria and her citizens on the spot in term of trustworthiness. If anything, Dalung has further worsened the already not too good image of the country among comity of nations. The ministry of sports need someone who trustworthy.

2 Audu Ogbeh: The octogenarian may no longer be relevant in the ministry of agriculture or other ministry because of his poor performance. Even the much touted yam exports to London has failed abysmally. Recently, he caused a stir when he said the ban of some items by the CBN was as a result that some Nigerians ordered pizza from London.

3. Alhaji Adebayo Shittu: The Oyo state born former minister of communications is out technically because he did not observe the one year mandatory national youth service scheme after completing his studies. Besides, he is at loggerheads with the immediate past governor of his state, Alhaji Abiola Ajimobi, who described Shittu as ‘cantankerous’. Two of his aides recently filed action against him for defaulting in paying their salaries for more than two years. Shittu was disqualified from participating in the governorship of Oyo state because of NYSC brouhaha. President Buhari may dump him for a less controversial candidate.

4. Dr Chris Ngige: The former Anambra state Governor seems not be Labour friendly. If anything, the ministry he supervised has been in crisis for better part of his tenure. He had a running battle with the national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole over the composition of boards under his ministry.

5. Col Dan Alli (rtd) The erstwhile minister of defense from has not shown enough clout that he understands the security architecture of a multi ethnic, multi-religious country like Nigeria . Even his home state – Zamfara was so troubled with banditry that former Governor Yari agreed for a state of emergency to be declared.

6. Abubakar Malami: The former Attorney-General and minister of justice has been enmeshed in several controversies. He was accused of taking bribe from the telecom giant, MTN to reduce the fine imposed on it. He was at the centre of the recall of former fugitive, Abdurasheed Maina, who was accused of pencon theft. Malami was also accused of paying a whopping $15m to some lawyers for doing nothing in returning of $323m Abacha’s loot. President Buhari may want to drop him in order to start the next level on a clean slate.

7. Heineken Lokpobiri: The former minister has said he wanted to contest the governorship of his state-Bayelsa and that President Muhammadu Buhari should not bother to re-appoint him.

8. Ibe Kachikwu:The Minister of state for petroleum may not be re-appointed based on two factors: He was nominated by Gen Theophilus Danjuma who no longer enjoy good relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari. Again, his secret memo about how the GMD NNPC, Mikanti Baru was running the corporation unsettled quite a number of people , including President Buhari.
