Enough of Attrition in the House of Afenifere: Why Yoruba Must Speak In One Voice.

Enough of Attrition in the House of Afenifere: Why Yoruba Must Speak In One Voice.

It has come to our notice the brewing attrition and counter war of personal vendetta at the expense of morals and genuine common cause in Yoruba Land today, capable of undermining we the present and future heirs Yoruba harmonious relationships with ourselves as well as devalued our reserved pride and competitive quests and hopes on several other opportunities in the Nigeria nation.

We are seized of the media statements credited to the faction of Afenifere led by Pa Ayo Adebanjo and Mr Yinka Odumakin as Spokesman of the group targeted at the person of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo for his statement on the fact that the current situation is Poitically motivated scenarios to overemphasized the boko haram led fulani armed bandits killings in Nigeria, which we eqaully thought is rather provoking and uncharitable not good an opinion, tantamount to chastised the helpless and abandoned victims and families of this heinous crimes, but it would have been better for the Afenifere leaders to visit or summon the VP inside(at a non publicly disclosed emergency meeting) to ventilate objections, counter opinions leaning towards correcting their own Yoruba son, but not to publicly embarrass and demean his prowess and highest Yoruba endowed office and second in command in Nigeria, while the efforts of the Pa Fasanmi and Senator Biyi Durojaiye led Afenifere was not speared in the cross fires of words of war, particularly watching the most popular tv morning breakfast discussant show series: “Sunrisedaily” today 29th June, 2019 on Channels television, which is more defined as a show of shame, disrespectful arguments between Mr Yinka with Senator Durojaye: An Afenifere Elderstatman of great repute, likened to a collision and political overheated debate, via brandishing our dirty linens and weakness publicly at the slightest risk of open attack from our common external enemies, who are clandestinely waiting for us to unleash terrible blows internally against one another, thereby waiting for the right time to strike and devour us without any semblance of unity of defence.

Perhaps, what could have been better seen on air, seeing the two great birds: Mother Eagle (Senator Biyi Durojaiye) and Junior Hawk (Mr Yinka Odumakin) combining their highly cerebral intelligence and intellectual clarity on air, based on fused purpose and points of contact to proferring solutions towards the actualization of our common benefits and liberation of our cause.

More so, to this end the security stakeholders meeting convened by the Southwest Governors also suffered similar fate of condemnation and spiral sporadic attacks from the Afenifere, indeed we are aware of the urgency of convening and painstaking efforts of DAWN to organize the town meeting, though apologies to the planning team for not pragmatically utilizing this rear opportunity in positioning and prioritizing the event speakers and left behind leading Obas in Yoruba Land which in the first place ought to be jointly declared open by the Ooni of Ife and Alaafin of Oyo , while the genuine quest demands and security threats could have been better marshalled by Iba Gani Adams, The Aare Onakankafo of Yoruba Land though present but not allowed to talk, alongside missing out leading great yoruba voices all of whom are intellectually prepared to postulate short and long term solutions to the perennial daily attacks, genocidal killings and kidnapping of the fulani armed bandits, coupled with the total condemned, generally unacceptable and bad timing federal government’s declaration of ruga/cattle colonies across the 36 states, unending ritualism, corruption and need for a new national and regional Constitution(s) that devolves more power to the units, rather than the present over bloated federal government unitary structure, far from a true federalist state.

Alas, as the umbrella apex body of youths in the southwest region of Nigeria and in Diaspora, we unequivocally state clearly without fear or favour, that this perennial blame game implosive war must stop, and this has not only diminished our status as Nigeria’s cradle of wisdom, but provokingly caused us greater loss to ridicule and verifiably misrepresented us as an ununited and uncoordinated people, filled with internal strives and hatreds, envy and pride.

We have come this far without any tangible achievements to our collective growths, progress and development, in view of our many failed and hard fought battles, for this singular age long impediment called “Tembelekun” covetousness, pride and dignified hatred for one another.

The current battles of pride needs to end, it has only divided and cause unmitigated cracks and damage to our fabrics of oneness, placed us as low thinkers and empty barrels full of wisdom but less positives to show for it.

It is high time we treat ourselves with referred mutual respects, dignity and honour not for our elders as ordained by God, but to our people whose views have suffered further collateral damage of lost hopes to killings, political infractions, internal wrangling and power rumbles.

No one is an island of issues, hence all hands needs to be desk to achieve optimally beyond political vetupuration and loss of confidence mistrust and misplaced priority due to lack of coherence, this was a similar fate Chief Obafemi Awolowo suffered in his political days that brought us this low in the historical polity of Nigeria, being reduced as used ladders to climb to power by other regions, at the expense of our common beneficial interest and values.

We cannot guarantee genuine peace within this rancor filled atmosphere, we cannot achieve greatest good for the greatest number if this nebulous and ridiculous vengeance and vendetta persist in Yoruba Land, for we are using this medium to call for a seize fire and truce in order to achieve overall unity of purpose and common demands, for we must commend the DAWN Commission and Southwest Governors Forum for deerring the odd of political differences for the overall interest of their respective states subjects to convoke the Southwest Security Stakeholders Summit in Ibadan a less politically disadvantaged venue of a PDP led state wherein majority are of the APC whose number could veto any resolution on behalf of the region, we need to collectively appreciate this uncommon strides it shows and proved our high level of political maturity and viability as a region of the best minds when it comes to solving our common woes.

We need to equally commend the Pa Fasanmi, Asiwaju Tinubu and Senator Biyi Durojaiye’s led Afenifere leaders meeting with the President Muhammadu Buhari led executive that same day, this to us is a huge opportunity to harness this rear value added privileged that we have leaders that has the temerity to confront our challenge and present our travails before Mr President, all that is expected of we at home is to summon a further meeting with them on a mass follow up by the people of Yoruba Land, it is crystal clear that we might not have had equal attention compared to the Northern region, due to their coherence and synergy beyond political divides and shores of identity of either Hausa or Fulani hegemony and clans, looking at the way they presented their demands while using the opportunity to ask for more than the office of the IGP granted them, inclusive of State Police which we the Southwest are championing, to this end they smiled home to consolidate, while our own leaders got home being subjected to unnecessary attacks, for we cannot insulate ourselves from blames of our present precarious state of affairs and unending tribulations.

Alas, we put it as a matter of necessity, let not this issue degenerate beyond limits and controls, Mr Yinka Odumakin and the rest of Afenifere leaders needs to sheath their swords, stop this attrition and unbeneficial war, while they embrace common agenda to liberate our people from the tangles of insecurity, lack of government attention in critical areas and appointments, no one should be vilified for whatsoever reason, while non should act as a wing of betrayal against the Yoruba interest.

We hope a regional large stakeholder peace meeting be summoned by our leading Royal Fathers at a soonest date soon to permanently resolve this doldrums and quagmire.

We laconically condemne and shall resist any attempt of releasing one inch of land for fulani ruga settlement in southwest forthwith.

The current battle against fulanization of Nigeria via ruga settlements/ colonies agenda predicated on mass invasion and immediate umfettred control of over 40,000 hectares; a total of 480 hectares of land mass in six selected choice areas combined in each of the 36 states and FCT via an induced national state of emergency declaration and unconstitutional veto order by the Federal Government without no legitimate grounds and corresponding legislative inputs of the 9th National Assembly and our own six states governors (Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo), regrettably this runs contrary to the ethos, spirit and letters of democracy, equitable justice, rule of law, more importantly a gross violation of the 1978 Land Use Act laws, which has eqaully received wide legal condemnation too, wherein governors shall determined such allocations to Fulani Cattle breeders freely, the question is, why must a private business of an individual becomes a national responsibility of government, with greatest dismay the state governments are ambushed and forced to sign off free lands to the fulanis without paying a dime to the traditional land owners nor government’s allocation fees for Land registering and C of O, or excision titles, imagine each having its own independent seriki fulani, in future they are to compete and wrestle powers from all our traditional obas and chiefs, wherein in few years time they will submerge and dictate our destinies and end our communal freedoms into abject fear and slavery.

However, we see this as a call to evasive war and anarchy, if allowed unchecked , hence this movement of freedom cannot and should not be monopolized, for we can only achieve winning collectively, sadly our adversaries and enemies are strategically positioning themselves far ahead of us.

Hence we must as a matter of necessity find an equilibrium point of peace to reason together and resist this monstrous evil now.

We can’t afford the antecedents errors but rather harp on our achievements for more winning, for unity and love lies in diversity.

God bless all our leaders.

No More War! Afenifere is one
