Ogun Traffic Agency Says Full Diversion of Berger/Kara axis of Lagos/Ibadan Expressway Begins on 5 August

.offers alternative routes

TRACE CORPS TRAFFIC ADVISORY ON THE CLOSURE OF INBOUND LAGOS TRAFFIC ALONG THE LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY FOR THE ROAD REHABILITATION WORK FROM BERGER-OGUN RIVER (KARA BRIDGE), BEGINNING FROM SATURDAY, 3RD AUGUST, 2019.

In view of the imminent closure of inbound Lagos traffic along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway for reconstruction and rehabilitation work to be carried out from Berger (New Garage Bus Stop) – Ogun River (Kara Bridge), scheduled for Saturday, 3rd August, 2019, the general public, particularly the motoring public, is hereby apprised of the need to plan their journey and take necessary precaution.

Since inbound traffic along the expressway would be diverted into the same carriageway conveying traffic outbound Lagos, thereby making both inbound and outbound traffic to be accommodated on the same section of the expressway, motorists are admonished to be patient, cooperate and show understanding with Traffic Managers (TRACE, FRSC, NSCDC and the POLICE), as they ply the diversion route  which is currently being graded (Ogun River Bridge Underpass), to facilitate, guarantee and ensure free flow of traffic.

This is even more pertinent considering the fact that the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Annual Holy Ghost Convention, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Power Must Change Programme and the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, would all be holding in the month of August with its attendant traffic challenges, caused by the heavy flow of human and vehicular movement.

However, in view of these anticipated challenge, Julius Berger has resolved that it would allow traffic to drive on both sides of the carriageway on Saturday, 3rd August, 2019, while minor excavation on the shoulder of Lagos bound traffic carriageway would still be carried out.

Nonetheless, by Monday, 5th August, 2019, full diversion of inbound Lagos traffic to the outbound section would commence, to signal the beginning of full operation.

But on Friday, 9th August, 2019, or Saturday, 10th August, inbound Lagos carriageway may be re-opened If there is serious traffic snarl over the weekend, close to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG’s) Holy Ghost Convention and the Muslims Eid-el-Kabir festival.

But in spite of this, motorists are still advised to ply the following alternative routes to decongest traffic along the diversion route.

* Iyana Ipaja/Ota/Ifo/Abeokuta/Sagamu-Benin Ore expressway

* V/Island/ Lekky/ Epe/ Ijebu-Ode-Benin/Ore expressway.

* Ikorodu/ Itoikin/ Ijebu-Ode-Benin/ Ore expressway.

Notwithstanding, TRACE, FRSC, POLICE and the NSCDC, would be strategically positioned along the diversion route to ensure compliance and orderliness, as well as, penalize errant and recalcitrant motorists with the intent of disrupting traffic flow.

Any inconveniences is highly regretted, please.

Thanks.
