Surprisingly, but not completely unexpected, Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe and his co-travellers in the business of apocryphal loyalty and political rebellion have gone to the court to obtain an injunction to stop Rivers State APC’s Wards, Local Governments and State Congresses scheduled to hold on 17th, 21st, and 28th of September respectively.
Going by his antecedents and latest moves, Senator Abe has proven that he is not in any way distinguished in character and integrity. For a man who not long ago openly confessed and testified to being Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s mentee and biggest legacy in politics, the level of his disloyalty, betrayal and evil-mindedness is inexplicable and opprobrious.
Like the devil incarnate, Senator Magnus Abe had watched with relish and delight, as all the efforts and sufferings of thousands of APC members, some of whom had gone the extra miles and took deadly risks for him in the past, go down the drains.
Each time the hopes and expectations of Rivers State APC was dashed in any of the courts, Senator Abe was seen ecstatically dancing in celebration with his few supporters.
The effect of his inordinate ambition, unguided desperation and caustic collaboration with Governor Nyesom Wike of PDP was that APC watched from the sidelines in anguish and hopeless abandon as elections took place without their participation, with the exception of the Presidential election.
Apparently, the last general elections would have offered APC the best and most realistic opportunity of taking over Rivers State. But it never happened because of one man’s satanic intrigues.
To the relief of frustrated members of APC in Rivers State, the National Working Committee of the party, led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, decided to wade in and amicably resolve the issues once and for all. A five-member Caretaker Committee was set up to oversee the affairs of the party and supervise the conduct of Congresses at Wards, Local Governments and State level. Most members were highly elated by the good development.
Again, Magnus Abe, in his usual characteristics, seems not to be pleased with anything, no matter how good and well thought out the idea is. He appears to have assumed the nature of the devil himself with the sole intendment of happily inflicting pains, sufferings and sorrow in people. He seems to derive pleasure in seeing people in anguish or pensive mood.
With the aid of his usual partners in political atrocities, Senator Magnus Abe has approached the court and reportedly secured an injunction stopping the Congresses.
However, it seems the fiery former senator would not have any joy this time. This is because the situations and circumstances of now are totally different from what obtained in 2018, when he pulled that surprise. Then, APC was in a hurry to conduct the Congresses so that the executive committees therefrom would elect candidates of the party at the various primaries.
This time, there is nothing to hurry about. Elections are almost four years away, so APC Rivers State has ample time to patiently and mindfully follow the legal processes until it has received the greenlight to conduct injunction-free Congresses.
Secondly, the little vestiges of strength and life in the fragmented camp of Senator Abe have obviously been vitiated and attenuated. Few days ago, his factional chairman, Peter Odike, has towed to path of honour, reason and wisdom and returned to the mainstream APC. Many of his hitherto ‘stalwarts’ at the local government levels have also gone the way of Mr. Odike.
Therefore, it is just a matter of time for the once bourgeoning and blossoming political career of Senator Magnus Ngei Abe to be obliterated permanently from the political space of Rivers State. He has shot himself in the foot, and has only himself to blame.
Goodbye Senator Magnus Ngei Abe!
