I never doubted Runsewe’s remarkable achievements in Arts and Culture in the past. This was acknowledged in my first article when Runsewe first made Bobrisky issue an unnecessary national attention.
In fact, Runsewe’s classic performance in the past was what surprised me with his current petty ‘over attention’ on Bobrisky. I didn’t even give any attention to that nonentity until recently when Runsewe inadvertently promoted him to a national icon of sort.
Why deploying a whole department of federal government on a nonentity, a cultural dissent and entertainer and making too much issue out of it everyday.
The current issue of Bobrisky using female toilet at MMM Airport and a whole Runsewe Arts & Culture Centre treating that as a national issue made no sense to me at all. The airport has internal control mechanism to address that not the job of Runsewe who decided to play the role of Amebo and an interloper. That’s not his job. It’s purely the job of the airport and any one that feels offended. I guess he is just idle or seeking national attention through Bobrisky.
For your information, I have had cause to use female toilet too in a bank and two hotets’ bar when men were queuing and one female toilet available was empty. So, what’s the big deal?
Though, I am not saying that was the Bobrisky’s excuse.
I read on a friend’s wall Jagunmolu Oluwadare Lasisi recently that he was surprised that the toilets in his new University in Glasgow are gender free, so why is Runsewe making mountain out of molehill.
Transgender, homosexual, Heterosexual have come to stay because they are symptoms of diseased globalised culture. So, to address the adverse effects is not to scape goat or stigmatize one or two dissenting individuals and turn them into a project, but to be very creative and design composite cultural programmes as response to discourage such dissenting acts and not all this styles Runsewe, police & government are adopting. No pls.
Did it not surprise you that despite serious objections from cultural point of view, Big Brother Nigeria continued to wax stronger.
A good response to discourage people from watching by millions that are addicted to BBN is not to start arresting participants or watchers, but to come out with very good programnes that have cultural content on terrestrial TV & cable TV before, during and after BBN that will teach cultural morals and values as alternatives while at same respect people’s democratic and cultural rights.
There was a ‘Bobrisky’ in Great Ife by name Dapo Adamolekun the son of a prominent professor who dressed & acted a lady. When I was the students union president in 1990, I invited him for discussion but after I saw that he was resolute to dress & behave like a woman, unlike Runsewe, I discouraged students from molesting him/her but to distant themselves from him /her if they could.
Just recently, I read that Dapo is now a full woman with woman organs, in Germany. So, we can’t face new global challenges with old method.
Runsewe should change his approach and be more creative because there are more unpopular Bobrisky around and yet to come. Runsewe is not a culture police but a culture motivator, he should know this. Simple.
