Peoples Democratic Party on Monday said the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Chief Adegoke Adelabu aka “Pekelemesi” recently told some of his admirers that some power brokers in his party had assured him that Appeal panel would declare him the governor elect.
Specifically, the PDP said Adelabu told some of his supporters in his hotel at Iyaganku that Senator Bola Tinubu had assured him that Appeal panel hearing his appeal against Governor Seyi Makinde’s victory would declare him governor.
A statement by the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Prince Diran Odeyemi, on Monday, said while the party would have treated the disclosure by Adelabu as mere relaxation spot gist, the mention of Tinubu as the person given the assurance has made it imperative for the party to draw attention of the world to the claim.
Odeyemi, who advised Adelabu and whoever that was planning to circumvent judicial process as regards Oyo governorship election not to forget the issues that led to the collapse of First and Second Republic.
He warned that any attempt to manipulate judiciary to favour APC would not work, as the people of Oyo state would be ready to defend, with the last drop of their blood, the mandate given to Governor Seyi Makinde.
The statement reads, “We have it on good authority that APC governorship candidate, Mr. Adegoke Adelabu, recently told some of his admirers in a hotel last week that Senator Tinubu had promised him that Appeal Panel would declare him governor of Oyo.
“Sincerely, we would have treated the disclosure as a statement coming at an excitable moment, at a relaxation spot, but the mention of Tinubu as the main actor negotiating for Adelabu to purchase judgement, makes it necessary for us to tell the world.
“We hope those behind this plot will learn from issues that crashed both the First and Second Republic and desist from act capable of truncating peace of the Pacesetters State, as the people of Oyo will be ready to protect one of them they massively voted for, even with the last drop of their blood.”
