But for stroke of luck, the Senior Pastor of Citadel Global Community Church, CGCC, aka Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, who turned 65 years yesterday would have been attacked while preaching on a pulpit two Sundays ago. The assailant according to an eyewitness account, who was dressed in white robe dashed forward towards the man of God before he was apprehended by Bakare’s aides. While he was questioned about his mission, he said he has a message for Nigeria and wanted to use Bakare’s platform.
The ‘assailant’ who carried a small bag meandered through the security before he was stopped. It was a momentous occasion as the congregation was shocked beyond marrow as to the mission of the ‘man in white’. Does he truly have a message for Nigeria and Nigerians ? Why was he secretive about it? Why didn’t he inform the man of God before dashing forward towards him? Any sinister motive? The congregation who was shocked whispered in low tunes and a visibly shaken Pastor Bakare bursts into song of praise while the congregation joined him in worshiping God for His mercy.
The source says, no one could say what the strange man’s intention is/was. The man was however, whisked away by Bakare’s aides.
It took some minutes to restore calmness in the church on that fateful day. Pastor Bakare was however full of praises to God adding that “God is his protection…”
Who dun-nit? His comment in recent times , especially on his vision for Nigeria in 2023 has been so robust that people are beginning to think that the revered clergy meant business as regards politicking.
Bakare who was the running mate of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2011 in a video that has gone viral last year was quoted as saying that Buhari is the Moses while he remains the Joshua. As regards succession plan, he also maintains that he is number 16 after Buhari which he numbered 15 in the political hierarchy.
He was also unsparing in his latest intervention about the rot in the land and those scheming to take over from Buhari.
He said; “The eyes of those who see will not be dim. The ears of those who hear will listen. Also, the heart of the rash will understand knowledge and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.
“The foolish person would no longer be called generous. You can say ‘so so and so’ has stolen all the money in the state, but he is a very generous man, you are foolish.
“That’s why potholes are killing you, that’s what pools of water… you can’t drive now anymore because what is meant for road has been stolen since democracy began, they are living larger than life having jets here, having jets there, having house in Bourdillon, having house in this place, having house in that place, having house in every place at the expense of the public.
“You will not go without vomiting what you have stolen. Wait, and see. Because a king will reign in righteousness.
On Lagos Flood, he said the roads have been bad for decades and shoddy jobs by the state government have failed to correct the malady they are.
“You’re complaining about Flood. Since 1999 the condition of this road for 20 years (sic) now since I’ve been here has remained the same. They’ll do patch-patch, join-join, until rain comes and reveal that they have not been right with the people,” Bakare added.
“And you think your children will stand shoulder high above the perversity you have created? I see the race to 2023, congratulations Presidential ‘hope-fools’. You cannot, you have stolen what belong to all.
“You can tell the man, he is a very generous man, he would pay for your hospital bill. Because he didn’t build hospitals. The foolish person will no longer be called generous.
“Woe betides the government that does not know that the purpose of government is the welfare of the people.”
It will be recalled that he said some people approached him to be VP in 2011 and that he will step down after some days in office, on a promise of mansions in Abuja and “Banana Republic”.
