Oyo guber tussle:48 hours after, judges fail to make copy of judgement available to Makinde’s lawyers

More than 48 hours after the Appeal Court Panel sitting on Oyo State Governorship Election Petition gave its judgement, the copy of the judgement has not been made available to lawyers of Governor Seyi Makinde.

The Lead Counsel to Makinde on the election petition matter, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has explained his frustration about the matter.

It was gathered that though Jegede instituted the process to secure the copy of the judgement immediately after the ruling, the Appeal Court has not made it available to him.

It was gathered that some workers of the Court of Appeal told the lawyers that the Judges were trying to correct some errors in the judgement to prevent the errors from being made public.

“As of now, the copy of the judgement has not been made available and this could be dangerous. I can authoritatively inform you that Makinde’s lawyer initiated the process to get the judgement but he was frustrated. This is another reason for interested parties not to go to sleep, as something may be amiss,” a source said.

The source further said that the delay in releasing the court ruling may be dangerous because the Supreme Court has 60 days to determine the matter from the date of the ruling of the Court of Appeal.
