Borno State to build first flyover in the North-East

Borno State Government has signed a contract with a Chinese construction company Eighteen Engineering Company (EEC) to build a flyover. 

The flyover which contract sum is N4.3 billion, would be the first of its kind in the North-East region of the country. 

Signing the contract on Tuesday, the Borno State Commissioner for Works, Architect Saleh Yerima, said the flyover is to ease movement within Maiduguri and to solve the growing traffic within the metropolis. 

He asked the contractors to keep to the project specifications. 

He warned that the state government would not compromise on quality,. 

He also asked that there should not be any addition on the contract sum. 

The commissioner said the contract should be completed in 18 months as contained in the agreement, he said: “The construction should  start in December 2019 (immediately). 

Speaking for the construction company, Mr. Quin Weiguo, the MD, EEC, promised to work assiduously at completing the project to time. 

He said the company would not betray the trust of the  Borno State Government.
