Fireworks have been banned during Christmas and New Year festivities in Yobe State by the police.
This was contained in a statement signed by police public relations officer of the Police Command, Abdul-Malik Abdul-Hafiz, made available to journalists on Saturday.
The statement noted that prohibition of the use of fireworks is in existence and will continue to be enforced.
The police in a statement on Saturday explained that use of fireworks such as knockout is regarded as a criminal offence.
It charged parents to caution their children against the use of fireworks during the periods, while wishing all Nigerians happy celebration.
