Borno Governor spends Christmas in communities attacked by Boko Haram

Borno Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara spent Christmas day paying condolence visits to communities attacked by Boko Haram in recent days.

Boko Haram had attacked some communities in Askira-Uba local government, in Southern part of the state.

Some of the communities attacked include Lassa, Chul, Rumingo,  Kirdimdila, Mutukum and  Hausari Zadama.

The Governor, who was in Abuja few days ago had traveled to Yola by air and taken the road to the affected villages to. sympathize with the victims and residents of the areas over the recent attacks on their communities by members of the Boko Haram insurgents.

It was reported that three persons were killed in the series of attacks, which left scores others injured. The insurgents have equally razed several houses in the attacks.

The Governor, while at the communities attacked, promised to reconstruct all the shops and houses burnt as well as construct houses for people displaced by the insurgents from the surrounding villages now forced to live in refuge with their relations and friends in Rumirgo village and other places.

Umara also announced that government will after the Christmas season reconstruct all the burnt shops and stores as well as drill boreholes in the villages, renovate their schools and construct additional schools.

He also promised to expand their markets, and provide poverty alleviation materials as well as skills and vocational acquisition programmes in the areas to cushion their suffering.

The governor equally pledged to provide scholarships for students of the area and boost security services of the vigilance groups and hunters in the area by providing them with patrol vehicles and allowances.

The governor had during his visit commissioned a Community Hospital constructed by the NLC National President Comrade Ayuba Wabah for his people. He promised to drill borehole, construct schools and build a 4 kilometre road from Tampul-Sabon Gari next year.

The governor commended the efforts and concern of the Chief Medical Director ,CMD University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, Professor Ahmad Ahijo in service delivery to his people in Rumingo and in the entire Askira-Uba council.
