PDP’s Plan To Woo Oyinlola Back To The Fold Unsettles Adeleke’s Group

..Sends Gov Seyi Makinde, Ologbodiyan To Attend 69th Birthday At Okuku

+Details Of Dubai Meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party is working to re-arrange the party ahead of the staggered elections in Ondo, Edo, Anambra , Ekiti and Osun ahead of 2023 general election.

Newsnow investigation revealed that part of the game plan is to discuss with the estranged members of the party across the country with the view to returning to the Party.

Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde who is seen as a moderate was given the task in the southern part of the country, while the newly appointed chairman of PDP governors forum and governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, a smooth operator was given the task to re-unite all the aggrieved members in the northern axis. It was not surprising then last week when Makinde’s diplomatic shuttle stormed Okuku, the country home of former governor of Osun State , Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola to celebrate his 69th birthday with fanfare. He was there in company of the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP , Kola Ologbondiyan and other PDP stalwarts in the south west—And the message was simple-woo Oyinlola back to the fold.

Oyinlola, who lost his secretaryship in a controversial circumstances in 2013 is being tipped as the national chairman of the PDP to placate the south west which lost the same position to south south after the initial arrangement in 2016.

This arrangement may have unsettled some political bigwigs in Osun who believed if Oyinlola returns to the PDP, he automatically becomes the leader of the party in the state. And this may also affect the chances of its former gubernatorial candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who is presently enrolled in a ‘crash’ educational program on how to govern Osun state in the United States of America.

To counter Oyinlola and take full control of the Party, plan is in the offing to remove the state chairman , Soji Adagunodo and replace him with Dr. Bayo Faforiji. The Obokun quartet of Adagunodo, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, Hon. Oluwole Oke and the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Prince Diran Odeyemi is said to have become a difficult nut to crack. More worrisome to the Adeleke’s group is the 2022 gubernatorial election and the fears that Oke, a fourth term House of Representatives member, though under suspension for supporting the candidature of Femi Gbajabiamila during the election of the Speaker last year may decide to contest the governorship election. Oke, who first indicated interest in the race in 2014 has the wherewithal to run a successful campaign if he decides to throw his hat into the ring and mount the soap box. This is however given the Adeleke’s group a sleepless night. This is so because attempt to make Ademola Adeleke a consensus candidate ahead of 2022 last year after the Supreme Court sealed his fate albeit technically, was scuttled. If the motion had been allowed then, it would have been a fait accompli come 2022 and will be difficult for anyone to contest the gentleman’s agreement. And that explains why the Adeleke group relocated to Dubai to finetune its strategy ahead of the plan re-organisation in the PDP. Those who are privy to the meeting said the fear of Oyinlola and the Obokun quartet dominated the talks and how to decimate them once they returned to Nigeria.
