Borno: Zulum Approves N578m Scholarship For 23,894 Tertiary Students

Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved N578,682,000 for the payment of scholarship to Borno citizens pursuing PhD, Masters Degree and undergraduate degrees in different tertiary institutions within and outside Borno state. 

Commissioner of Higher Education Prof. Isa Hussaini disclosed this in a meeting with stakeholders on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

The commissioner explained that about 23,776 students schooling in Nigeria and 118 foreign students are already benefitting in the first batch of disbursement. 

Prof. Marte added the state scholarship board is making sure all payments are made into the beneficiaries bank accounts. 

This, according to the Commissioner is for transparency and accountability. 

Our correspondent reports on Governor Zulum’s instruction, names of students for the first batch have been listed and will be paid public through various online and social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter handles of the Governor which enjoy good traffic of followers.
