Alleged N520m Chairs For Latter Rain: Activist Begs Bakare …Says “ I’m Not Being Used”

“To this end sir, I tender my unreserved apology to you and the church for the medium employed or used to expressed my opinion on those issues raised in the interviews not only because is not in tandem with the practice in the house but for the embarrassment it might have caused you. I want to agree with Tar Furker in his words on Mable that “in exercising your freedom of speech, first exercise your freedom of thought” and I can say it with all sincerity that it won’t happen again.”

A member of Citadel Global Community Church aka Latter Rain Assembly, Mr. Adeola Samuel-Ilori, has apologized to the General Overseer, Pastor Tunde Bakare over the interview he granted to Newsnow, criticizing the purchase of chairs which will cost the Church a whopping N520million.

Samuel-Ilori in a letter of apology sighted by Newsnow denied being used against the General Overseer, adding that he was merely expressing his views about the issue.

He, however, explained that henceforth,he would always channel his opinion on any issue through the feedback mechanism of the church, instead of granting an interview which could be misconstrued and embarrass the leaders of the church.

The letter read in part, “Sir, I must confess that I’m not so proud at the turn of events especially as it related to the medium or platform used in expressing such fundamental opinion and not only that you are angry about it because of the furore generated thereinafter, but not being my style abinitio of addressing such issues, it may rather be impossible for me not to have opinion either in tandem nor differ from any subjects of national discuss or issues related to human endeavors but I rather engage the person concerned or write to the office concerned no matter how highly placed which like I said yesterday had been my practice to your office since 2010 which I did in 2011, 2015 and 2017 respectively.

“To those ones I got response I took the respondent opinion in equanimity, yet, may not well suited or answers my opinion, my fulfillment will rest on the fact that I bear my mind and it’s on record.

RE-GRANTED INTERVIEW IN THE MEDIA ON CITADEL AND PURCHASED CHAIRS

Dear Pastor B,

The above subject matter refers; on March 2nd, 2020 I received a text from Mr. Wale Laseinde, Director Senate affairs to the effect that I’m to appear before the complaint, conflict resolution and disciplinary committee of the church on 8th March, 2020 which I did in respect for the constituted authority and your office as the serving overseer.

At the committee sitting, questions were put to me which bothered on the above subject matter, Chief among is the medium to which I used in expressing my opinion as contained in the interviews of news online, vanguard and Punch respectively. I explained on how and why the medium become the channel of my choice in bearing my opinion contrary to the tradition of the church laid down precepts and even my own adopted style of getting across my opinions and disagreements over any issues of National discuss with you dated back 2010.

After much deliberation, having answered all questions and posers throw at me to the best of my knowledge, understanding and principle that guides open conscience. It was put to me that I was wrong using that medium notwithstanding that I neither created nor initiated it either as I made to know.

I agreed there and then to apologise to you as I was made to believe that the action did not go down well with you and angers you. I therefore consented to Mr. Lasehinde suggestion to see you immediately so I can tender my unreserved apology to the effects and let brotherly love continue.

Yesterday 11th March, 2020 was chosen by me subject to your availability.

Sir, meeting you yesterday afford me the opportunity to hear from explanation on my personal opinion regarding the subject matters in discuss and other Sundry statements in the interviews. I was very happy to note that you tactically agreed with me that the same medium was not my created platform of expressing my opinion as you read over the exchanged messages between you and the first

interviewer (Journalist) which led to his bait or and journalistic instinct getting me to talk on the matter and response thereinto culminates in the subsequent interview with vanguard and punch respectively.

Sir, I must confess that I’m not so proud at the turn of events especially as it related to the medium or platform used in expressing such fundamental opinion and not only that you are angry about it because of the furore generated thereinafter, but not being my style abinitio of addressing such issues, it may rather be impossible for me not to have opinion either in tandem nor differ from any subjects of national discuss or issues related to human endeavors but I rather engage the person concerned or write to the office concerned no matter how highly placed which like I said yesterday had been my practice to your office since 2010 which I did in 2011, 2015 and 2017 respectively.

To those ones I got response I took the respondent opinion in equanimity, yet, may not well suited or answers my opinion, my fulfillment will rest on the fact that I bear my mind and it’s on record.

To this end sir, I tender my unreserved apology to you and the church for the medium employed or used to expressed my opinion on those issues raised in the interviews not only because is not in tandem with the practice in the house but for the embarrassment it might have caused you. I want to agree with Tar Furker in his words on Mable that “in exercising your freedom of speech, first exercise your freedom of thought” and I can say it with all sincerity that it won’t happen again.

As regard your explanation on the twin major issues which are citadel and purchased chairs though your explanations are well suited I won’t want you to see my expressed opinions on them as being antagonistic rather take it from your popular saying that “opinion is like noses every one cannot have it the same, hence, my opinion or disagreement with purchased chairs as long as it can’t be seen from my perspective, it can’t be in tandem and remains my opinion and what will be done will be done and doings it must be back with cogent, germane and factual reasons as you engaged yesterday and my opinion may not count or even wrong sir, it’s still my opinion and erstwhile remain personal.

Sir, let me use this opportunity to again reiterates and clear one doubt or opinion no matter how flimsy that maybe I’m being used against you either by political gladiators or hegemonies, that no one can use me against you for any purpose whatsoever. I may not be rich nor influential but the tenant of civility and discipline my mother inculcates in her children still subsists 30years after her demised hence I can’t sell my birth right for morsel of bread or porridge and sought it with tears like Esau thereafter.

By the grace of God many of the principles you taught us like, “you can win by righteousness”, “others can, you can’t because of destiny” and being a new breed without greed remain my cardinal principle even in the field of activism I belong where anything can happen with flips of Naira crisps and once joint hold decision turn disarray. Although in another word of yours, “the best of men are still men at their very best” which I considered as summary of late Nelson Mandela statement which says “I do not regards myself as an angel, I’m a human being with many weaknesses, some are fundamental. I’m not a saint unless you are talking of saint inform of sinner who keeps trying”.

Sir, the least I will do is not to support any projects or endeavor embark on, and I will voice my displeasure either in writing or face to face but to be used against my fellow human for whatever content or guise, I rather die. Not to talk of someone I have been drinking from his fountain of spiritual knowledge for decades.

Everything you read in the interview remains my opinion and or my conviction on how things should be. Though, may be wrong to the receivers, but not influenced or sponsored and still speaks glowingly of you and I can’t speaks otherwise because that’s Tunde Bakare I know and it was when I noticed anything that I will raised my antenna and talk or write to that effect.

Once again sir, on the medium or platform used to air my opinion and the resultant negative effects or backlash, I’m deeply sorry.

Although nothing can be done on my raised concerns opinion on the imported chairs as your explanation yesterday on it was veritable enough to know that it’s a closed chapter, I may like to suggest that subsequent issues related will take it into consideration.

Thank you for your fatherly magnanimity in taking time to explain even though I may not deserve it.

It’s my pleasure meeting you on this subject matter albeit for the last time. I remain yours sincerely sir,

Amb. Adeola Samuel-Ilori
