Hoarding:Heads May Roll As DPR Set To Fire Staffers, Sanction Erring Petroleum Marketers in Borno …..As Gov Zulum Revokes Right Of Occupancy Of 10 Filling Stations

By Gbenga Akingbule

Staffers of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) who are allegedly colluding with Petroleum Marketers to perpetrate hoading of the products will soon be shown the way ,  the DPR  Zonal Operations Controller , North East,  Alhaji Ibrahim Ciroma has said

Alhaji Ciroma who disclose this on Thursday also said the DPR is ready to impose maximum sanctions on any filling station hoading or selling petroleum products above government regulated price.

This is happening  even as the state governor,  Prof Babagana Zulum had ordered the temporary withdrawal of Right of Occupancy of 10 filling stations for allegedly hoarding of petroleum products.

At a press conference in Maiduguri,  the state capital,  Alhaji Ciroma disclose that DPR will not spare staffers who  colludes with petroleum marketers  to hoad petroleum products and cause unnecessary hardship on the people of Borno State.

Hear him ” for now , I don’t have any evidence against my staffs ,  but I assure, if I catch anyone , that will be the end of such staff’s job in this organisation  ”

The DPR  Zonal head who threatened to withdraw the licences of defaulting filling stations said his  staffs will continue to monitor sales of Petroleum products  even after official closing hours with a view to ensuring  strict compliance With  government regulated prices and halt hoading .

”  There  are some unscrupulous marketers that takes advantage of the timing to make gains , some of them will wait until we have closed before selling above recommended  government price .

” But we have divised a way of catching them . We have deloployed staffs to go to some of the filling stations that were reported in the evening . Anybody that is caught will suffer the full  weight of our sanctions ” Alhaji Chiroma said .

The DPR Boss, however, exonerated some petroleum marketers from allegations of hoarding, saying that the recent scarcity of Petroleum products was as a result of break in supply.

” Most of these filling stations don’t have fuel and this was due to the break in supply we had recently , but the situation has been adreresed and there would be enough supply in Borno and Yobe states in the coming days .

” What some filling stations had was dead stock and such can not be sold to the public ” Alhaji  Ciroma said .

However,  Governor Babagana Zulum had gone round some filling stations within the state capital and discovered that some of the petroleum marketers were refusing to sell their products and causing hardship on residents .

Zulum who ordered that petrol be sold Immidiately to motorists wondered why some Nigerians will  seek ways to profit unnecessarily from the hardships of others.

” It’s provocative to realise that some filling stations will have two fully loaded tankers of Petroleum products , but will refuse to sell , they rather will prefer the poor masses to  suffer and later sell at exobitant prices, adding  that ” this doesn’t happen elsewhere,  why will it continue in Borno ” The governor said during a state broadcast yesterday.

Chairman of the state Independent  Petroleum Marketers ( IPMAN) Alhaji Mohammed Kuluwu said his organisation has summoned their members who were allegedly hoarding Petroleum products and selling above the  government recommended  price with a view to investigating the allegations.

A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance”
between usability and visual appeal. I must say you’ve
done a great job with this. Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Chrome.
