Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has accused the Air Force Commander and the Commissioner of Police who supported Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike to arrest the Caverton Helicopter’s pilots of usurping the authority of the Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking on Channels TV monitored in Lagos on Wednesday, Sirika said Wike acted in gross disobedience to the President, adding that the Airport is federal government territory.
He said, “the Air Force Commander in Port Harcourt, who invited Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, to arrest Caverton Helicopter pilots, and passengers on board the concerned flight; the Police Commissioner who accompanied him; and the Military Commander, who all collaborated with Wike, usurped the authority of the Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari and acted in gross disobedience to the President. The Airport area is a Federal Government territory”. He said.
Sirika confirmed that Caverton and four other flight operators got official permits to fly those flights for the “benefit of national economy of which Rivers State is the biggest beneficiary.”
