Governor Abdullahi Ganduje is troubled by the mysterious death that has hit Kano in the last four days.
Investigation revealed that some local governments in the ancient state have resorted to mass burial of people suspected to be Coronavirus victims because of the symptoms of high fever and cough before their death.
These deaths may not be unconnected to some of the unscrupulous practices like unauthorized vaccine that the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed warned that it has not been approved by World Health Organisation during the presidential task force briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.
The vaccine is said to be on sale in Kano.
An interview conducted by the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, monitored on Tuesday indicated that unless something is done urgently, the situation in Kano may be problematic.
It will be recalled that the wife of Microsoft Billionaire, Mrs Melinda Gates had predicted that the death in African continent will be worse, stressing that they (Africa) will be picking dead bodies on the streets.
Also, Governor Ganduje and some of his colleagues in the nineteen northern states have said there was no need for total lockdown when some states in the south were taken precautions to curtail the spread of the dreaded virus. But with the deaths in Kano in the last four days, the governor seems to have woken from his the initial attitude to COVID-19 pandemic, shutting down a 320 tones of rice mill in the process.
Also, the Nigerian Centre of Disease Control, NCDC, may need to step up action to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 into the local community which may be difficult to trace.
