Trade Union Congress, TUC, said it’s deeply saddened to hear about the death of Mr. Bamidele Ishola Olumilua who was elected Governor of Ondo State from January 1992 – November 1993 during the Third Republic on the Social Democratic Party (SDP) platform.
TUC in a statement by its President, Comrade Quadri Olaleye and Secretary General, Comrade Musa—Lawal Ozigi, said although his administration was short-lived because of military intervention but his impact was felt within the short period he was in charge.
“It is unfortunate that he died at a time the country is going through a political process that is alien to us and threatening our very existence as a people. We are even more divided now than ever and we had thought and hoped that the experiences of the octogenarian and others would help restore peace to the polity and give all a sense of belonging. Now he is no more, gone with vital experience that we need as a people.
“The Ondo people, nay Nigerians would miss him dearly. He was a man of his word and his legacy shall remain on the sands of time. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and the generality of Ondo state people.” The statement said.
