Our New State Library Will Make Borno Students Rank Amongst The Best In Nigeria – Prof Marte

The Borno state government says its building the best state-owned modern Library to provide opportunities for its students to rank among the best in the country. 

The Library which is at completion stage is one on the deliberate step by Prof Babagana Zulum one year administration to turn around the educational sector in the state says the Commissioner of Higher Education in Borno State , Prof Isa Hussaini Marte, 

Already,  the state government is expending the sum of   N104 Million on the Library complex which is expected to be equipped with e -learning facilities . 

Prof Isa Marte who made the disclosure  at a press conference on Wednesday to mark the one year of Prof Babagana Zulum as the Governor of Borno State said the state government is eager to transform the educational sector despite the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency. 

According to Prof Marte, the state government allocated the highest budgetery provision  to the education sector with a view removing the state from list of  educational disadvantage states and build long lasting infrastructure for the  sector in the state.

” I don’t think I have seen a beautiful Library in this country like that of Borno. Although I’ve not been to the National Library, but there’s no state Library that is as good as this ( Borno Library)one.

” We’re going to stock the new Library with the best books,  and the electronic softwares so that our students can really be at the top of their games . ” The Commissioner said.

The commissioner added that the state government has in its quest to lessen the burden of paying tuition fees by  parents and guardians revived the awards of scholarship to its students after eight years of neglect.

Marte , a Prof  of Pharmacology revealed that the  state executive council approved the sum  N 624 million and  23 , 776 students in 49 higher institutions within Nigeria were selected and are being paid their scholarship for the 2019/ 2020 academic session. He added  that 118 students in foreign institutions also benefited .

” We have to train our students,  we have to financially support them just like many of us enjoyed scholarship in our days ” Prof Marte said.
