“Ngige’s wife singlehandedly nominated an insurance company that will handle project in the NSITF on May 5 and by May 10, Ngige has approved it. This is the job that will cost the NSITF N100million without the input of the management.”
A member of House of Representatives , Ikeja Constituency, Hon James Abiodun Faleke, has accused the minister of labour and productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige of corruption and highhandedness in handling the affairs of Nigeria Security Insurance Trust Fund.
Speaking during the plenary on Thursday, Hon. Faleke accused Ngige of padding the budget of NSITF with N1.2bn and five SUVs.
He, however, explained that Ngige runs the NSITF like a private business.
“Ngige’s wife singlehandedly nominated an insurance company that will handle project in the NSITF on May 5 and by May 10, Ngige has approved it. This is the job that will cost the NSITF N100million without the input of the management.” Faleke said.
He also alleged that in 2019 budget, cars worth N300million were bought without the input from the management, adding that since the management has put its foot down that it won’t happen this year was the reason Ngige moved against them.
The lawmaker said the law is clear on how to deal with board and CEOs of MDAs in case of any infraction.
For unilaterally suspending the management of the NSITF without following due process, Faleke said President Muhammadu Buhari should sack Ngige without further delay.
It will be recalled that Ngige sacked the management of NSITF recently without following the laid down due process.
An executive director in the NSITF, Mrs Kemi Nelson has also accused Ngige of padding the 2020 budget of the NSITF.
