We Are Stronger Together!TUC Congratulates ULC, NLC For Resolving Five Year Old Disagreement

Joe Ajaero & Ayuba Wabba

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) congratulates the leaderships of the Nigeria Labour Congress and United Labour Congress for resolving their five year-old disagreement that arose from the 10th National Delegates Conference of Congress in 2015.

The ability to resolve the strain is a testimony to the fact that the labour movement knows its onions and can always handle its internal crisis with maturity no matter how long the issue at stake has lasted.

The country is faced with numerous  challenges that require a united labour movement to address. We could recall how difficult it was to actualise the new minimum wage due to the schism in the movement. We are happy that some people who wanted to take advantage of the situation were eventually disappointed. They failed to understand that no matter the crisis there is an internal mechanism the labour movement uses to resolve its differences. We shall remain eternally committed to the bond of brotherhood and solidarity that we vowed to uphold.

As labour movement we have a responsibility to the Nigerian workers, nay Nigerians and we cannot afford to fail them no matter how hard the external forces try to penetrate us.  With this reconciliation, we expect a stronger and united labour movement that would help redirect the ship of the country.

We salute your courage and tenacity of our veterans who, while the crisis lasted did not abandon our sister labour centre. We appreciate you all for being there during the dark period. Above all, we applaud Comrade Ayuba Wabba, Comrade Joe Ajaero, the National Executive Council (NEC) members and staff of the two bodies for achieving this great stride.

Congratulations to all Nigerians.

Comrade Quadri A. Olaleye, FCIA

President, TUC

Comrade (Barr.) Musa-Lawal Ozigi, mni

Secretary General, TUC
