There’s brewing crisis in Mbulu Owo Community over alleged high handedness and misrule by its Igwe, Godwin Okeke Arum.
The concerned citizens of the autonomous community in a petition to the Enugu state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, states that since November 28, 2008, when Igwe Arum became their King, the community has been in turmoil.
The petitioners said the reign of Igwe Arum has witnessed an Impunity on a large scale never seen before in the area, adding that cases of intimidation, harassment, land grabbing, torture and abuse of office have become the lot of the people of the Mbulu Owo Community.
Mbulu Owo Community states that Igwe Arum in order to enhance his despotic leadership has set up a torture group known as Royal Palace Guards, RPG, which he uses at will to deal with any dissenting voice in the area.
In the petition signed by eight concerned citizens of the community, a copy which was made available to Newsnow urged Governor Ugwuanyi to set up a panel of inquiry in order to avert the looming disaster.
