Emir Of Biu, Mustapha Aliyu To Be Buried Today- Borno Government

Borno State Government has said the late Emir of Biu, Mai Umar Mustapha Aliyu would be laid to rest today in Biu town.
Confirming the demise of the prominent ruler, the Borno State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Alhaji Babakura Abba-Jatto in a message said: “Inna Lillahi wa innah ilayhi rajiun His Royal Highness, the Emir of Biu, Mai Umar Mustapha Aliyu has answered the call of Allah Subuhanahu wa Taa La.
“Appointed June 1989, the late Emir died this morning (Tuesday) at the age of 80. He will be laid to rest in Biu at 2pm today according to palace source, may his soul rest in perfect peace.”
Family sources have earlier revealed that the Emir died during the night at the Federal Medical Center (Federal Teaching Hospital), Gombe after a brief illness.
The Emir was born on the 9th of November 1940 in Biu. He attended Kwaya Kusar Junior Primary School between 1947 and 1949 and Biu Central Primary School from 1950 to 1953.
He thereafter proceeded to Hausari Primary School in Maiduguri between 1953 and 1955.
He was at various times a Veterinary attendant (1958), Member representing Biu Emirate at the Borno State Council of Arts and Culture and District Head of Biu town from 1975 to 1989 when he became the Emir of Biu.
He was said by family source to have been survived by four wives and over seventy children with close to 200 grandchildren.
