Ajah Robbery:Two Feared Dead As Gunmen Attack Bullion Van, Loot Cash

Two people were feared dead on Thursday as gunmen attacked a bullion van in the Ajah area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that the incident, which happened around 3.30 pm, lasted several minutes.

Eyewitnesses captured the incident on camera.

Videos of the attack seen by our correspondent showed that the gunmen shot indiscriminately as they forced the bullion van to open.

The gunmen, who were said to arrive at the scene of the attack in a Toyota Sienna Sport Utility Vehicle, shot at the van and other vehicles.

“I witnessed a broad daylight robbery 10 minutes ago. A black bullion van was attacked. All the tyres of the van were shot at but the driver did not stop.

“Gunmen in Siena and carrying AK47 were shooting sporadically in front of Blenco between Ajah-Ado Road. Commuters using the route should be cautious and alert,” a social media user, identified simply as AY, added.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, told The PUNCH that details of the attack are sketchy.

When asked on the telephone to confirm the incident, Odumosu said, “I can’t comment until I get details.”
