A former president of Ghana, Flt Lt. Jerry Rawlings rtd, has described successive Nigerian leaders as selfish and huge embarrassment to the black race.
Ambassador Musiliu Obanikoro speaking in an interview with Arise Tv monitored in Lagos on Sunday, narrates the encounter he had with the late Ghanaian Leader some years back.
Obanikoro, who spoke from his base in Boston, USA, said when he was in Ghana as high commissioner, he always called Rawlings to say hello sir.
“ One day, he called me and requested that I see him. When I got there, he opened up to me about his frustration on Nigeria. I’m quoting him now. He said Nigeria leaders are huge embarrassment to the black race giving the resources at our disposal( both human and mineral resources). I tried to convince him, but he maintained his stance. He mentioned some Nigerian leaders which I cannot mention on the national television now as selfish and not after public good.
“ He said Nigeria ought to be 10 times better than Ghana with what we have at our disposal if well managed.” He said.
