A day after a first class monarch, the Olufon of Ifon, Oba Israel Adeusi, was shot dead, Mrs Ale, one of the wives of the chief of staff to the Ondo state governor, ChIef Olugbenga Ale was abducted by gunmen around Owena area of the state.
The incident has thrown the state into panic mode despite the launch of the Amotekun security outfit recently.
This renewed security challenges is giving Governor Rotimi Akeredolu serious concern.
Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere on Friday has also condemned the killing of a first-class traditional ruler in Ondo State.
The monarch was said to have been kidnapped before he was murdered by suspected assailants.
Afenifere in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin,
entitled, ‘Olufon’s murder and total insecurity’, called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to “get up and secure Nigeria.”
A source said that Mrs Ale was returning from Lagos to Akure when she was abducted by the bandits who laid siege on the highway and took her into the forest.
A top government source who said ” it is true that the woman was abducted at Owena along Ondo Road.
“The case has been reported to the security agencies especially the Amotekun and army to comb everywhere and we are expecting a feedback soon.”
“The governor is aware of the incident already and has also visited the house of the Chief of Staff at Alagbaka with plans to ensure the safe release of the woman.
Contacted, the state police command spokesperson, Tee Leo lkoro told newsmen that he was not aware of the abduction of the wife of the governor’s aide.
Recall that bandits murdered a first class traditional ruler, the Olufon of lfon, Oba Isreal Adewusi on Thursday at Elegbeke in Ose council area of the state.
The late monarch was returning to his domain after attending the monthly council of Chiefs meeting held in Akure, the state capital.
It will be recalled that Chief Olu Falae who suffered series of attack in the last few years had his farm destroyed recently by the rampaging herdsmen.
