Odunmbaku, Faleke In A Battle Of Wits Over Ojodu LCDA Chairmanship

The forthcoming local government election on who becomes the chairman of Ojodu/Ogba Local Council Development Authority may  have pitted one of the All Progressives Congress strongmen In the state, Cardinal Omolaja Odunmbaku against  the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Hon. Faleke Abiodun James.

Newsnow Investigation revealed that while Oduunmbaku is putting forward his own biological son, David, Faleke is supporting a female aspirant, Alhaja  Funmi Layeni.

Faleke, who was a two term chairman of Ojodu LCDA before he moved to the national assembly enjoys maximum support from the area. His protege and former vice chairman, Engr Julius Oloro is already rounding off his second term.

Already, since the leader of the party in the state and national leader of the APC, Mr. Bola Tinubu, has hinted that all those chairmen On second term should not seek re-election, the coast appears to be clear for either Odunmbaku’s junior or Layeni.

Though, Odunmbaku was close to Tinubu in the past and has a stranglehold on the Ojudu LCDA, his influence seems to be waning and this may be responsible for Faleke’s growing influence.

As the state prepares for the July 24,2021 local government election date, both Odunmbaku and Faleke may have to restrategise to canvass Support for their candidates.

According to a top politician in the LCDA, “ I think Faleke has an edge over Odunmbaku. First, he’s very close to Tinubu and has started the 2023 project for the APC national leader. Also, his constituency projects dotted the entire Ikeja constituency. From Solar powered street lights to Kombi buses for some youths and computer for others. He’s today the most influential politician in Ikeja axis.” He said.

Will Faleke outsmart Odunmbaku? Definitely June 15, 2021 primary election will determine who holds the axe between the two political gladiators.
