Eid-El-Fitr: Kano, Jigawa Declare Friday Work Free Day

Kano and Jigawa states have extended the eid-el-fitr holidays till Friday 14 May 2021 to enable Muslims faithful to celebrate eid-el-fitr.

The federal government through the minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola declared Tuesday 12, and Wednesday 13 May 2021 as public holidays to celebrate the end of Ramadan fasting.

But Kano and Jigawa  states extended its public holiday till Friday, which was  declare work-free day.

“Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has declared tomorrow Friday, May 14 as work free day to allow Muslim faithful continue with the  Eid-el-Fitr celebrations,” Muhammad Garba, Commissioner for Information, Kano state stated in a statement on Thursday.

Garba said the decision was to enable Muslims celebrate because Wednesday which the federal government earlier declared as public holiday later mark the 30th of the fasting. 

Also, in Jigawa state Government declare Friday as work free day.

Hussaini Ali Kila, Head of Civil Service In a statement said Governor Badaru Abubakar has approved Friday as work free day,  “congratulate Muslim faithful on the  Eid-el-Fitr celebration and said civil servants should use the period to pray for peace, stability and economic transformation of the State.”
