National Carrier: Tambuwal Mocks Buhari…..Commends Akwa Ibom Gov For Establishing Ibom Air

Since the inception of this administration we have been hearing national carrier, national carrier, we haven’t seen even local government carrier and now Akwa Ibom has blazed the trail by launching one”

Governor Aminu Tambuwal has mocked President Muhammadu Buhari for his inability to fulfill his promise to start a national carrier for Nigeria.

Speaking at Uyo, Akwa Ibom during the induction of another jumbo jet for Akwa Ibom airline, Ibom Air, Tambuwal commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for the feat.

Governor Emmanuel who said the Ibom Air is owned 100% by Akwa Ibom promised that before his tenure expires in 2023, he would have increased the aircrafts in the fleet of Ibom air to 10.

“Since the inception of this administration we have been hearing national carrier, national carrier, we haven’t seen even local government carrier and now Akwa Ibom has blazed the trail by launching one.

“I have to commend my brother, Governor Emmanuel Udom for this feat.” Tambuwal said.

It would be recalled that the minister of aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika at a ceremony in Fanborough in 2017 announced that a new national carrier, Nigerian Air has debuted, but the proposed national carrier has been suspended by the federal government because of the inability of Sirika to work with the critical stakeholders in the sectors.

Sirika has however promised that the national carrier to be funded privately will start by the third quarter of 2022.
