Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has said the embattled managing director of the Nigerian port authority, Hadiza Usman-Bola was not on suspension, but asked to step aside pending investigation into the activities of NPA from 2016 till date.
Speaking on a current affairs program monitored on Arise tv in Lagos on Monday, Amaechi said he has no such power to suspend anybody.
He said; “ I’m not aware about Hadiza’s suspension. I think the president asked her to step aside pending the investigation into the activities of the NPA from 2016 till date. An 11man committee has been constituted to investigate NPA. Six of the 11man committee are from the office of the Head of service , while 5 will represent ministry of transportation.”
Ameachi explained that there’s no Probe instituted Against Hadiza, as it’s been speculated, but the activities of the NPA.
On the speculation that he’s warming up to contest the 2023 presidential election, Amaechi said his main pre-occupation now is to work as minister of transportation and would not want to be distracted.
