…Says Illegality May Affect APC Chances In Future Election
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Zamfara state, Senator Kabiru Marafa, has warned the national Caretaker chairman of the party and governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni to beware of ‘banana peel’ as he goes about wooing people to join the party.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Arise TV monitored in Lagos on Friday, Marafa said he does not understand why Buni is obsessed In getting so many Governors in its fold.
Reacting to Buni’s speech in Gusau when the governor of Zamfara, Mohammed Matawalle decamped to the APC that the state Caretaker committee of the party has been dissolved and Matawalle is now the leader of the party in the state, Marafa said Buni overreached himself as he has no such power according to the APC constitution.
Marafa warns: “ Mai Mala Buni Legitimacy As Chairman will be challenged if he continues with this illegality.
“We must be careful of banana peel. The Supreme Court gave Judgment that APC was not supposed to participate in the 2019 election in Zamfara state. I don’t know how it’s possible now to have governor on the platform of the same party. It’s either by death or resignation that bye- election can take place there and have APC on the ballot.
“They are making mockery of our judiciary. Everyone knows that PDP cannot win any election in Zamfara. It’s all politics of 2023. If APC is obsessed with the ideas of having many governors in its fold, we don’t have problem with that.
“The constitution of our party forbids Buni being the chairman of the APC. He has no such power to dissolve the APC structure in Zamfara state.”
It will be recalled that Marafa was absent on Tuesday in Gusau when Matawalle decamped to the APC.
