A former chairman of Surulere local government, Hon. Hakeem Olaogun Dickson, aka HOD, has started the campaign to govern Lagos in 2023.
Dickson, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is leaving no stone unturned towards 2023 governorship.
Though, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who is serving his first term and bracing up for second term is expected to be given the offer of first refusal, but Lagos politics is quite different. Apart from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who served two terms without much challenge, his successor, Babatunde Fashola almost lost the second term ticket but for the people who stood by him. His successor, Akinwumi Ambode was not that lucky. Despite achieving much in term of infrastructure, Tinubu rose against him and presented Sanwo-Olu.
There’s also another political group across the state known as Lagos4Lagos.
The Lead visioner, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran has told those who cared to listen that he’s ready to take a shot at the governorship in 2023.
Dickson, an old war horse who as a chairman of Surulere had an altercation with Tinubu has announced his entry into the governorship race.
Born into the Animasaun (Onikoyi) Family of Isale Eko, Dickson seems to have begun his campaign in earnest.
It’s not clear if the 64 years old politician will contest on the platform of the APC or the opposition People’s Democratic Party.
