Gradually, Nigerian women are taking over the banking industry.
When Mrs Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe was announced as managing director designate late last year to succeed Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo of Fidelity bank, not many people believe the women are gradually taking over the banking industry.
Last week FCMB followed suit when Mrs Yemisi Edun was announced as successor to Mr. Adam Nuru and within a jiffy, Guaranty Trust bank named Mrs Miriam Olusanya as its first female managing director. Will the trend continues?

What a time to be a woman! 🙌
I have never been more proud! 💃💃
In 2021, 3 women have been appointed as Managing Director and CEOs of three leading banks in Nigeria.
Mrs Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe is the first female Managing Director and CEO of Fidelity Bank.
Miriam Olusanya is the first female Managing Director/CEO of GTBank
Yemisi Edun is the first female Managing Director/CEO of First City Monument Bank (FCMB).
Inspiring, hardworking and resilient women, who fought their way to the very top of a male dominated sector. And I’m sure they had to work three times as hard to prove themselves.
Their stories should remind all the women striving.. that there’s nothing they can’t accomplish if they set their minds to it. There’s nothing they can’t become if they are determined and persistent and there’s no dream too big if they believe and work hard at it! 🙌
