…..38 Now Freed Out Of 121 Abducted On July 5

Four students of the Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna State, kidnapped from their hostels by bandits on 5th  July, have regained their freedom.

Officials of the school said the four students escaped from the forest on Sunday night from their abductors where they were being held captive.

Out of the initial 121 students, between ages 10 – 19, abducted by kidnappers, the four students that regained  their freedom now brought together a total of 38 students that have been freed, leaving 83 students with the abductors.

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), Kaduna State branch, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, confirmed the news to journalists.

Although, reports from different sources have not given accurate figure concerning the total number of the students that have been released so far, two (2) of the students, had earlier regained freedom through an escape route while one of the students, was seen wandering in the forest and rescued by the security agency.

Some others reports have it that, two (2) of the abducted students escaped from the kidnappers’ den when they were sent by their abductors to go fetch firewood.

News reports, if a ransom was paid before the release, was not clear because the abductors had earlier negotiated the sum of N60M before the students can be released.

As we already know, kidnapping for ransom has now become a thriving business in the country, making daily news headlines.
