A member of the Federal House of Representatives from Borno State,  Hon. Satomi Ahmed has during the weekend urged the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Depertment for State Sevices ( DSS) to up their game and infiltrate the ranks of Boko Haram terrorists and Bandits with a  view to providing solution to lingering insecurity in parts of the country.

Satomi equally admonish the Nigeria Military come up with clear road map towards ending the insurgency and bnditary.

The  Lawmaker who represents the people of Jere Federal constituency where about 40 farmers were killed by Boko Haram terrorists last year is worried that at what he described as the reliance on hypothetical data to arrest the insecurity situation across the country.

At a media parlay in Maiduguri,  the Borno State Capital,  Hon Satomi emphasized the need for useful intelligence as a veritable tool to addressing security challenges in any part of the world.

Hon. Satomi said he is of the opinion that the  Boko Haram insurgency would have been brought to an end if the security agencies had done more to infiltrate the ranks of the terrorists group and provide the needed intelligence .

According  to him ,  one of the major problem of the lingering insurgency and other acts  of criminality  “in this country is the lack of coherent information that will give you exactly what is happening .

” Time is ripe for our Intelligence Agencies,  particularly the NIA to plant spies amongst the terrorists and bandits groups to get the right information out and end this crisis ”

He revealed  that the infiltration of terrorists orgattnisation acrross the world has led to significant reduction in global terrorism activities pointing out that ” the spies planted  amongst them help to get the right information about their modus operandi out to security agencies.”

He added that  another  reason the insurgents and bandits attacks is  lingering in Nigeria  ” is because  the criminal groups have informants within communities”  and wondered why security agencies , particularly the intelligence agency cant do better

The Federal lawmaker who commended the state Governor,  Babagana Zulum for inducting 1000 more volunteer hunters to assist fight Boko Haram and protect farmers in his constituency and three other local government areas said the measure will further ensure the security of lives and properties.

Hon. Satomi stated  that out of 6000 Volunteer hunters that indicated interest to protect their communities,  only one thousand have been screened and cleared by the DSS and other security  agencies adding  that the screening exercise will be continuous.

” It is better we engage the volunteer hunters to assist the Military and also protect our farmers instead of allowing them to be influenced by Boko Haram terrorists and other criminals elements” Satomi said .
