…Accuses EFCC Of Vendetta
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has accused the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdurasheed Bawa of vendetta and being used by politicians against him.
Speaking after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari At Aso Rock Villa yesterday, Bello said for a Government that claimed to be fighting corruption and given the fact that EFCC is one of the agencies fighting corruption, coming out with frivolous allegations is not the best.
He challenged Nigerians to demand accountability from other state governors how the bail out fund was spent.
He explained that EFCC should not allowed politicians to use it against him, adding that none of its accounts is frozen as claimed by the anti-graft Commission.
“ None of Kogi accounts is frozen as claimed by EFCC. EFCC should not embark on voyage of ‘no discovery’.
“ I challenged Nigerians to demand accountability from other state governors how the bail out fund was spent like we did in Kogi state. We published everything for people to see. So I don’t know where EFCC Discover the N20billion it claimed was frozen. EFCC shouldn’t allowed politicians to use them against us in Kogi state.” He said.
It will be recalled that the EFCC had last week announced that it has frozen N20billion Kogi Salary loan that was fixed in fixed deposit after the money was diverted from the original purpose it was meant for in Sterling Bank.
Kingsley Fanwo, Commissioner for Information has at a press conference refuted the allegations as unfounded and figment of imagination of the EFCC last week.
