Truck Drivers’ Association Accuses Makinde’s Aide, ‘Auxillary’ Of Illegal Arrest And Detention Of Members On Trumped Up Allegations

Oyo state Truck Drivers’ Association has accused an aide of Governor Seyi Makinde, who also doubles as the chairman of Oyo state Park Manager, Mukaila Lamidi also known as ‘Auxiliary’ over Illegal Arrest and detention of their men on trumped up allegation.

An eyewitness account said tempers  rose yesterday at the Toll Gate end of Ibadan when  ‘ Auxiliary’ arrested the chairman of Heavy Truck Drivers’ Association, Saheed Makinde and two of his men; Akeem Shitu and Tunde Isola for holding a meeting he considered as ‘illegal’.

Auxiliary who claimed to be acting on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde through one of his allies, Otunba Seye Famojuro allegedly ordered the drivers to be locked up at Ibadan Toll gate police station before they were later moved to Iwo Road police station from where they are to be arraigned in court today for sundry offenses, such as holding illegal meeting and robbery.

Sources told Newsnowonline that the attitude of Otunba Famojuro, an Ilesha indigene, who’s always bragging of being the godfather of Governor Makinde is unbecoming.

“ Auxiliary is running riot in the state doing whatever he likes without Governor Makinde calling him to order. What we are seeing is abuse of power against the law abiding truck drivers who have created employment opportunities that the state Government never created. Why do you want these boys to also be paying Auxiliary with their sweat. This illegality must stop, otherwise it may lead to chaos or break down of law and order. Governor Makinde must call Auxiliary and other people around him dropping his name to perpetuate illegality to Stop forthwith. As we speak, the three men are at Iwo Road Police Station and we have it on good authority that they will be arraigned in court this morning (today) . Their members are there at the police station, but the police said the order is from above and they are becoming restive.” Said a source who craves anonymity.

Attempts to get the reaction of Oyo state Government was unsuccessful as at the time of filling this report.
