Addressing a press conference on Monday in Abuja, Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Sunny Echone said the report was fabricated, adding that no white paper indicted Prof. Ogundipe as widely published by many newspapers and online portals.
The unsigned report which so many newspapers latched onto allegedly exonerated Mr. Wale Babalakin, SAN, The sacked chairman of the UNILAG governing council.
The federal government through the ministry of education has threatened to drag all the newspapers that publish the malicious report to court for not carrying out a due diligence before the publication.
It will be recalled that Babalakin who has been sacked was locked in a supremacy battle with Prof. Ogundipe.
The federal government waded in and set up a visitation panel to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the crisis.
Babalakin who was at the centre of the crisis then was relieved of his position as the chairman of UNILAG governing council for not following due process in sacking Prof Ogundipe before it was reversed by the federal government.
Babalakin is been fingered as the brain behind the latest publication to rubbish Prof. Ogundipe and present a fait accompli that he is corrupt as alleged by his dissolved governing council.
