While Attahiru Bafarawa the former Governor of Sokoto State from 1999 to 2003 is busy castigating Governor Bello Muhammed Matawalle of Zamfara State in his approach towards combating banditry in Zamfara State, all both local and international media organisations, his nephew(name) has been apprehended for being the suppliers of footwear to bandits and also involved in their treatment in their various hideouts in Zamfara State.
In an exclusive video obtained by Newsnow, the suspect was on tape confessing to his crime with an accomplice of his(Abu) in an in-house interrogation before Governor Matawalle in Gusau.
This came as a result of painstaking surveillance of the suspect for over a year.
Before he was confronted with his deeds, he buys footwear from Kaduna and other medical needs which he gets to the bandits in their various hideouts.
This comes after the declassification of a report of a committee set up by Matawalle when he assumed office with a clear mandate to find the remote cause(s) of increased banditry and recommend solutions to this hydra monster. The report indicted two former governors and some traditional rulers in the state for their involvement in the crisis.
It is evident that with Matawalle’s approach, there is an end in sight to banditry in Zamfara and north west region of the country.
