Osun 2022: Oyetola Is Barred From Contesting-Aregbesola’s Aide
Bola Ilori, a former special adviser to the minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has hinted that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is barred from contesting the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
Speaking on a current affairs program, The Morning Show, monitored on Arise Television in Lagos on Thursday, Ilori said Oyetola is a member of the Mai Mala Buni’s Caretaker Committee and he is barred from contesting by virtue of his membership.
The constitution stipulates that you must resign 30 days before any election and Oyetola is still there as a member.
“He has offended the letter and spirit of the constitution of the APC. He’s a member of the caretaker committee. And you can be part of caretaker committee in an election you are standing as candidate.
“Whoever votes for him on Saturday will be wasting his or her votes.
“We would advise that our party take note of this so that what happened in Zamfara won’t happen in Osun after the election.” Ilori said.
Corroborating Ilori, a member of The Osun Progressives, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, said it will be political suicidal to field Oyetola as the APC candidate in the forthcoming election.
Alimi also indicted former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of not insisting that Oyetola embrace peace and reach out to the TOP members after his intervention.
