Malami, Ngige No Longer Ministers—Falana

….Says Emefiele Can’t Remain In Office As CBN Governor 

Lagos lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana SAN, has declared that the minister of justice and attorney general, Abubakar Malami and minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige have ceased to be minister’s having attended the valedictory Federal executive council meeting held for them by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking on a current affairs program, Thisdaylive monitored on Arise Television on Sunday, Falana said what Malami and Ngige did by withdrawing and want to return to their offices after President Buhari has sent them off is an afterthought.

He said President Buhari made it clear during the farewell meeting that those who are yet to submit their letter of resignation should do so. 

Falana explained that unless the President represent them for screening, they ceased to be ministers.

He said, “If you have submitted a letter of resignation or attended the valedictory service held for them by President Muhammadu Buhari, both Abubakar Malami and Chris Ngige have resigned forthwith.

“Both the Attorney General and Minaiter of Justice and Minister of Labour having attended the farewell meeting, they ceased to be minister. In fact, they have embarrassed the presidency through their act. I think we should wait till tomorrow to see what the President would do. 

“The president told them that he is awaiting the resignation of those who are yet to do so. Malami said I don’t want to be a governor again, I forfeited my money. Same goes for Ngige. If he is no longer interested in the presidential race, he has forfeited his N100million.”

On the withdrawal of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, Falana said he cannot withdraw through a letter the litigation in court. “Nowhere in the world, not even a Banana Republic will a CBN Governor belong to a political party. It’s unheard of. I hope Emefiele will not have heart attack at the end. 

“The fact that Emefiele indicated interest to contest for the presidential election has disqualified him. He cannot remain in office again. “ He said.
