Exclusive! APC Drops Hamzat As Sanwo-Olu’s Running Mate….May Announce SSG Folashade Jaji As Replacement
The All Progressives Congress have dropped Dr. Obafemi Hamzat as the running mate to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to the information on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, website indicated that despite the endorsement of Babajide/Hamzat for Second Term by the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu few months ago at Adeyemi Bero Hall, Alausa, political expediency may have necessitated the dropping of Hamzat for a female candidate.
Newsnowonline had reported some months back that the Secretary to the Lagos state government, Folashade Jaji is being considered as Sanwo-Olu’s running mate.
The publication today clearly shows that Hamzat may have been dropped as his name was conspicuously missing on the INEC website why others have the names of their running mates published. Instead of Hamzat’s name, the INEC simply wrote TBA, in the column, which simply means To Be Appointed.
The choice of Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, an Awori from Ojo Local Government, Badagry Division and Funke Akindele, a Nollywood actress from Ikorodu as PDP standard bearer and running mate respectively may have forced the APC to reconsider its stand of winning the 2023 Governorship In the state because of the clamour that Badagry and Ikorodu divisions of the state have not been fairly treated in the last 23 years.
