Kayode Salako Is An Impostor, Not A Member Of Labour Party–LP Candidates

The Labour Party has declared that Mr Kayode Salako is an intruder and should stop parading himself as the state chairman of the party in Lagos state.

Presenting the authentic candidates of the Labour Party to the media at a press conference at Labour House, Lagos on Saturday, Olufemi Shodimu, a member of Labour Party maintained that the authentic candidates of the Party in Lagos state were those whose primaries were held according to letter and spirits of the electoral law 2022 as amended, adding that attempts by the Salako group who is not known to the party in Lagos state to subvert the wishes of the people will be resisted.

“The primaries were conducted according to the electoral law. And suddenly the National Exco brought in another state exco through the back door. Our state chairman in Lagos state is Prof Ifagbemi Awamaridi, any other person parading himself as a chairman of Labour Party in the state is an impostor.” He added.

Corroborating Shodimu, Comrade Adesegun Adalana, who is the Labour Party Candidate for Somolu Constituency 1, Lagos state House of assembly for the forthcoming general election said all the Labour Party candidates from the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and House of assembly for the next year election have been elected through validly conducted primaries monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as prescribed by the new electoral law.

Adesegun who described the press conference as memorable because it afforded the media to meet the authentic party candidates said the Labour Party has discovered that Salako and his group are working to undermine the party.

He said; “We have discovered that we have illegal primaries going on in Lagos state as we speak. We’ll unseat the incumbent governor and the man that has pocketed Lagos State for all this while. We want to inform all our supporters and lagosians that we have intruders in LP. They have been doing it before, but we are saying no. INEC has published all the names of our candidates, and nobody has withdrawn to warrant another primaries as stipulated by the electoral law.

“Salako is an intruder sent to disorganize LP in Lagos state. Their primaries being conducted now is to undermine the party.

“Salako, boasting that they will replace the authentic candidates who emerged through primaries monitored by INEC is attempt to undermine the party.

“Prince Ifagbemi Awamaridi is still the chairman and Governorship candidate of the party.

“This’s the National secretariat of NLC where we are having the briefing. NLC and TUC are supporting us in the struggle to reclaim our party from the intruder .” He said.

A member of the Nigeria Labour Congress representing Lagos state, Comrade Olatunji Sekoni also maintains that the era of ‘ paddy paddy’ politics in Lagos state is gone forever.

Sekoni who also affirmed that the authentic candidates of the Labour Party were those present at the press conference, said any other arrangement going on in the state is not known to the party.

Attempt to get the reaction of Mr Kayode Salako to the crisis rocking the Labour Party was unsuccessful as at the time of filling this report.
