I Don’t Need To Inform Anyone Else, President Has Given Approval In Writings, Emefiele Replies Finance Minster

The governor of central bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has reacted to the statement credited to the minister of finance, Ahmed Zainab that she was not aware of the planned redesigning of N200, N500 and N1000 naira notes as proposed by the CBN.

Emefiele in a short message to the channels television in reaction to Zainab said the apex bank autonomy gives him power to carry out any monetary policy once he cleared with Mr. President.

He said; ” I don’t need to inform anyone else. I have informed President Muhammadu Buhari and he has given approval in writings”.

Zainab had warned of the dire consequences of the planned redesigning during the budget defence before the senate.
