INEC ‘LL Conclude Kebbi’s Supplementary Election Tomorrow-Okoye

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday said it was ready to put conclusion to the supplementary elections that is to take place in kebbi State on Saturday.
Speaking to newsmen during the distribution of sensitive materials to various Local Governments where elections are to take place on Saturday at INEC office, in Birnin Kebbi, INEC National Head of Publicity and Voters Education, Festus Okoye said; “We are not going to have another supplementary election in kebbi State again. We are assuring that by tomorrow the people of Kebbi State will know their governor.
“On Saturday, INEC would be conducting supplementary governorship election in 20 out of 21 local governments in kebbi State spanning 142 polling units, one senatorial district, two federal and eight state assembly constituencies.”
Okoye said the commission is fully prepared to put conclusion to the governorship, senatorial elections in Kebbi North, two federal and eight state assembly constituencies elections to be conducted on Saturday in the state.
He added that; “Tomorrow we will be having supplementary governorship election in 142 polling units, two federal constituencies, One Senatorial and 8 state Constituencies elections.
“We have finished distributing the sensitive materials for the elections. The materials comprises of ballots papiers, results sheets and bivas for voters accreditation and authentication.
“We have engagements with the various political parties. We have explained to them the procedures for this elections and the places where elections will take place and the sensitivity involved in where supplementary election have been indicated.
“We also have engagements with various security agents and they have promised they have the capacity, courage and resources to deploy adequately and effectively in the places where the supplementary election is taking place.
“On our own part, the chairman has deployed three national commissioners for Kebbi State because of the numbers of elections that we have here. Most of our staff will be acting as presiding officers and acting in other capacities for the elections to be successfully conducted”, Okoye said.
He said Bivas have been reconfigure for the elections and there would not be problems interns of voters accreditation and authentication.
“Bivas are expected to perform optimally. ICT people have assured INEC that they are ready for results upload from the polling units”, he said.
