Sudan Crisis: 2800 Nigerians Will Be Evacuated Tomorrow–NEMA
Director, Special Duties, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Onimole Bankole, has assured that about 2650 to 2800 Nigerians will be evacuated from the war torn Sudan to Egypt by road tomorrow.
Bankole who spoke on Channels Television programme, Sunrise Daily, monitored in Lagos on Monday, said the first contigent will be evacuated on Tuesday morning.
Although, about 5500 Nigerian students are stranded in Sudan after the renewed hostility between two Sudanese Army Generals, Bankole said the first batch which will include some family of Nigerian Embassy officials in Khatourn will be between 2650 to 2800.
According to him, evacuating that huge number of people requires security which will be handled by the Nigerian Embassy in Sudan.
He, however, assured that the Nigerian Embassy in Khartoum will ensure that those who will be evacuated to Egypt by road will be treated with dignity.
” We’ll ensure that they are treated well as soon as they arrive in Nigeria and will be given money to move back to their states after the usual Protocols”, he assured.
